🎄 Holiday Lights, Local Shows & Family Fun: What’s Happening Around Van Buren This Week

From glowing parks to live performances, here’s what’s happening around town.

The holiday season is almost here, and excitement is building across Van Buren. From the upcoming Freedom Park Tree Lighting to the return of The Miracle Worker at the King Opera House, there’s plenty to look forward to around town.

 


🎄 Freedom Park Tree Lighting — Coming Next Friday

Friday, Nov. 21 • 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM • Freedom Park
The countdown is on! Join your neighbors next Friday as Van Buren officially lights its 40-foot Freedom Tree. The evening will feature live performances, cocoa, and plenty of family fun as downtown welcomes the Christmas season.

 


Christmas at the Parks — Opens Nov. 21

Nov. 21 – Jan. 1 • Freedom Park & Downtown Van Buren
Downtown will transform into a glowing holiday destination beginning Nov. 21. The walking trail of lights stretches from Freedom Park to the Courthouse Square, with festive music, photo spots, and nightly displays from 5:30 PM – midnight through New Year’s Day.

 


🎭 The Miracle Worker @ King Opera House

Nov. 14 – 16 & 21 – 23 • King Opera House, Van Buren
Presented by Arts on Main, The Alma Education and Arts Foundation, and PAC’d House Productions, this inspiring production of The Miracle Worker tells the true story of Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan. Directed by Jessye Wooten, it runs two weekends at Van Buren’s historic King Opera House.🎟️ Tickets: skokospac.org or call 479-632-2129.

 


🚂 Creekmore Holiday Express — Fort Smith

Opening Soon • Creekmore Park, Fort Smith
A River Valley favorite returns as Creekmore Park’s lights flicker on for the season. The miniature train and dazzling displays make this one of the most beloved family traditions in the area. Admission and train rides are free; donations appreciated.
